Getting an obituary set up is really simple. The first step is to decide what tier you want to have, and purchase the relevant option from the sign up page. During checkout you will have a chance to provide your email address and the name of the person the obituary is for. After checkout one of the team will contact you with the next steps, including what photos you want to include with their captions, what text you want to put in and what order to display it, and all the key information about the person to round out the obituary.
We feel that there is no right answer to this question. We have developed a couple of example templates that we feel are good starting points, but at the end of the day the content is entirely up to you. There are a few key facts that we have to include (Date of birth, date of death, details about the funeral/cremation). After that we recommend you tell a story about the person. Who were they? What did they enjoy? What did they do in life?
It is common to see direct family members listed in the obituary, or anyone who is called out as part of the stories told, but do not feel as though you have to include them at all. Some people prefer to be quiet about their home life, and that is totally okay.
This is a feature we are currently working on. If you reach out to us we have the possibility of manually putting a video up at an extra cost, although due to a few underlying issues it is not a standard feature yet.
Of course you can! We recommend first talking to your funeral director, as they have a lot of experience that they will be happy to share with you. If you still need help, or have more technical questions then please reach out to our team, and we will be happy to help wherever we can.
It was really difficult to create the pricing structure for Sentimentery, as we want to keep the service online for as long as possible while making it as cheap as we can for you. The biggest component is the fact that we want to keep your loved ones obituaries around for at least ten years, and that really impacted the price. All of our infrastructure is based in the Azure datacentres, so we are somewhat at the whims of Microsoft for how much we can charge. It works out around £3.50 per month for our basic package, which was the lowest we could get the price while ensuring you get the best service possible.
